Rules are simple and apply equally to all X-adventure Raid Series events. The series is open to mixed teams of four athletes called raiders. Each event covers 180 to 220 km and lasts two days. An event is split in sections featuring a specific sports discipline. These sections are about 4 hours long with 20 minutes break between each to allow teams to change equipment and rotate team members. Three raiders compete in each section, the fourth acts as a substitute and support crew. The different sections follow each other at a frantic pace with up to 8000 metres of positive elevation in two days - the equivalent of Mount Everest. The best teams will complete the course in about 18 hours. | | GAINING EXPERTISE TO QUALIFY FOR THE RAID GAULOISES | Any team competing in the X-adventure Raid Series will experience the highest level of adventure racing while the fittest athletes will qualify for the Raid Gauloises. To compete in the Raid Gauloises, teams must qualify by gaining a top 30 ranking overall in the X-adventure Raid Series. Teams ranked in the top 30 overall at the end of the 2002 X-adventure Raid Series will be invited to compete in the 2003 Raid Gauloises the invitation includes race entry as well as return travel to the Raid Gauloises. | | ![[CALENDAR]](pics/world_vietnam_sm.gif) |
